The Lincolnshire Performance and Development Squads have now been selected for the 2023/24 season. The selection process is always a challenging process with so many juniors and minimal places available (we have in excess of 450 junior boys in Lincolnshire who are members of golf clubs). During that process the coaches and organisers use the following criteria:

The players attitude

Commitment to their own development

Competition results

How many qualifying rounds have been recorded throughout the previous season

Availability and eagerness to compete in County led fixtures

Age

If you have not been selected in the Performance or Development coaching groups, do not be deterred. With good development and strong performances, there will always be the opportunity to represent your County.

Futures Squads

Throughout 2024, we will be running our Futures Squads for the 3rd successive year. The Futures groups are split regionally into North and South and will contain a maximum of 10 junior golfers under the age of 14 years old typically. At the under 14 age group, the landscape changes rapidly and therefore, the LUGC will be hosting a Talent Identification Day to be held at Woodhall Spa during the February half term. Entry will be an application process specifically aimed at U14 junior boys.

The Futures groups become a key part of our junior development programme and those players often form the cornerstone of our junior teams for the coming years.

November 2022

Adam  and the rest of the coaches are now planning to commence this winter's coaching programme this month. Adam will be contacting all of the selected boys to confirm their availability. The coaching will run through to the spring of 2023.

May 2022

Adam Keogh and Paul Spence led the latest coaching day @ Woodhall Spa in readiness for the upcoming season. All the squads have just completed their coaching days and we hope this will lead to a succesful yar for all of our junior boys.

April 2022

Further coaching has been provided to the four squad groups during this month.

March 2022

We now have four coaching groups and they are as follows:

Performance Squad

Development Squad

Futures North Squad

Futures South Squad

All four groups have a coaching programme with dates assigned with coaches that will run until April/May 2022. The competition season will then be in full swing and we envisage that future coaching will commence in the Autumn and will continue throughout the winter months and will help prepaare the boys for the 2023 season. 

February 2022

Adam Keogh and Paul Spence hosted a very succesful coaching and assessment day at Woodhall Spa GC on Wednesday 16th February. 16 boys were invited to the day and they were split into three groups. The groups then rotated around three discplines, namely, putting, shortgame and trackman. The boys had a light lunch and then were put into groups of three to play the front nine holes of the Bracken course. The weather was not kind but the boys managed to stay relatively dry in hte testing conditions. Adam then hosted a short de-brief to summarise the day and the proposed next steps for the boys.

January 2022

Lincolnshire Junior Development

The Lincolnshire Union of Clubs are embarking on an exciting new Junior Coaching Programme orchestrated by our Lead Coach, Adam Keogh. The coaching programme will provide a great opportunity for Lincolnshire’s talented junior golfers at every level (Futures, Development or Performance) access to regular structured coaching, playing opportunities, whilst also creating friendships with fellow county golfers throughout the year.
